Final Approval Granted in Group Health Plan Litigation Data Privacy Settlement

On July 9, 2025, Judge Jerry W. Blackwell of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota granted final approval to a class action settlement in In Re: Group Health Plan Litigation, where Almeida Law Group and co-counsel represented the class alleging that Group Health Plan, Inc. d/b/a HealthPartners unlawfully disclosed personal health information through website tracking tools to third parties like Meta.

Almeida Law Group announces a major legal victory in Aliff v. California FAIR Plan Association, Case No. 21STCV20095. On June 24, 2025, the Honorable Stuart M. Rice of the Los Angeles Superior Court granted in part Plaintiff’s Motion for Summary Adjudication, ruling that several core provisions of California FAIR Plan’s standard fire insurance policy are unlawful under California law.

On April 21, 2025, Esse Health, a healthcare provider based in St. Louis, Missouri, discovered a data breach involving unauthorized access to its external systems. The incident occurred between April 21 and April 25, affecting 263,601 individuals. Written notifications began on June 25, 2025.

Texas Center for Infectious Disease Associates Data Breach

On July 13, 2024, Texas Centers for Infectious Disease Associates (TCIDA) experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive personal information of nearly 20,000 individuals. The breach was not discovered until June 17, 2025, raising concerns over delayed detection.

Triage Staffing Data Breach

On May 1, 2025, Haymaker Enterprises, doing business as Triage Staffing, experienced a data breach that exposed personal information. The incident was discovered on June 13, 2025, and written notifications were sent to affected individuals beginning July 7, 2025.

IES Communications Data Breach

On March 7, 2025, IES Communications, LLC experienced a data breach caused by unauthorized access to its external systems. The incident was discovered on March 17 and affected over 6,000 individuals. The compromised data included names and other personal identifiers combined with sensitive information.

Bitcoin Depot Data Breach

On June 23, 2024, Bitcoin Depot, Inc., a cryptocurrency ATM provider based in Atlanta, experienced a data breach caused by a hacking incident. The breach was discovered on July 18, 2024, but affected individuals were not notified until nearly a year later, on July 8, 2025.

Finastra Technology Data Breach

On October 31, 2024, Finastra Technology, Inc. experienced a data breach involving unauthorized third-party access to its systems. The breach was discovered on November 7, 2024, and notification letters were issued to affected individuals on July 3, 2025.
