Written notifications were sent on October 17, 2025.
What Is a Data Breach?
A data breach occurs when private information (such as SSNs, banking details, or medical records) is accessed or stolen without authorization. This can happen through hacking, phishing, or even a simple system misconfiguration. When that information falls into the wrong hands, it can be used for identity theft, financial fraud, or other criminal activity. Beyond financial harm, victims often face emotional stress and lasting uncertainty about data misuse.
What Did R3 Do After Learning About the Data Breach?
R3 has taken several steps to secure its systems and reduce the risk of future incidents. The company immediately disconnected affected systems from its network and hired independent forensic experts to investigate the incident. In addition, it reset passwords and added additional technical controls, as well as enhanced endpoint monitoring and data protection measures. For the harmed individuals, R3 stated that it has offered a year of free credit monitoring and identity protection services through TransUnion’s Cyberscout program.
If you suspect that you were affected due to the R3 Government Solutions data breach, note that the exposed information may include your name, address, SSN, driver’s license, passport number, and/or direct deposit & payroll information.
While evidence of such misuse of personal and/or sensitive information has not been reported so far, it is important to be careful. You may want to enroll in the free credit monitoring, keep tabs on your financial documents, request free annual credit reports, as well as stay alert to report any suspicious activity.
