About Gardiner Family Chiropractic, PC

Gardiner Family Chiropractic, PC is a chiropractic healthcare practice located at 90 Main Avenue in Gardiner, Maine. The practice has been serving the community since 1989 and is a HIPAA-covered healthcare provider. Because it is a healthcare provider, it maintains patient records and related health information, making a network server breach particularly sensitive for the people it serves.

What Happened?

Gardiner Family Chiropractic, PC was listed in an HHS Office for Civil Rights breach portal report filed on August 14th, 2026. The filing identifies the incident as a Hacking/IT Incident affecting a network server and reports that 5,000 individuals were impacted. No business associate was involved. The HHS filing does not specify what types of personal or health information were compromised.

Separately, the Interlock ransomware group claimed responsibility for an attack on Gardiner Family Chiropractic. Dark web monitoring sources, including Ransomware.live, recorded the Interlock claim as first observed on July 31st, 2026. On its leak site, the Interlock group alleged that the compromised data included patient data, client records, medical histories, and internal financial information. These are unverified attacker claims and have not been confirmed by Gardiner Family Chiropractic or any regulator. No public notice letter from the organization was found. Brinztech has reported that Interlock operates using a double-extortion model, meaning it both encrypts victim data and threatens to publish exfiltrated files. Third-party threat intelligence source Breachsense also attributed this incident to Interlock. No prior HHS breach reports were found for this practice, and no class action litigation related to this incident has been identified.
