About Ascent Global Logistics, Inc.
Ascent Global Logistics, Inc. is a U.S.-based global logistics provider headquartered in Belleville, Michigan. The company specializes in domestic, international, and on-demand freight solutions, including air charter, ground expedited transport, truckload and less-than-truckload shipping, global forwarding, customs brokerage, and managed transportation services. It operates USA Jet Airlines as an in-house cargo airline subsidiary, employs more than 1,000 people across 20+ North American locations, and is backed by H.I.G. Capital. Because the breach involved Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, financial account information, and medical records, affected individuals face a meaningful risk of identity theft and financial fraud.
What Happened?
Ascent Global Logistics, Inc. was listed in a Vermont Attorney General breach report summary dated September 8th, 2026. According to the company’s own notification letter filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General, on May 22nd, 2026, Ascent was alerted to suspicious activity in one employee’s Microsoft account. With the help of external cybersecurity experts and law enforcement, the company determined that an unauthorized third party had accessed the account and downloaded certain files during a two-day window — May 8th through May 9th, 2026. This was a business email compromise incident targeting a single employee account, not a ransomware attack or network-wide intrusion. No ransomware group has claimed involvement.
Ascent notified the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on August 21st, 2026, and sent individual notification letters the same day — roughly three months after the suspicious activity was first detected. The Vermont Attorney General was notified on September 8th, 2026. The data involved included names, Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, credit or debit card numbers, and medical records. Ascent has stated it has no evidence that the information has been misused and is offering affected individuals a complimentary Experian IdentityWorks Credit 3B membership. As of early September 2026, no class action lawsuit has been filed, though multiple law firms — including Dapeer Law, P.A. and Shamis & Gentile P.A. — are actively investigating potential class actions on behalf of affected individuals.

What Should You Do?
If you received a notification letter from Ascent Global Logistics, enroll in the complimentary Experian IdentityWorks Credit 3B membership as soon as possible — check your letter for the enrollment deadline and activation code. Whether or not you enroll in that service, consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze with all three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) to help prevent new accounts from being opened in your name. You can request your free annual credit reports at AnnualCreditReport.com and review them carefully for unfamiliar accounts or inquiries. Because medical records were involved in this breach, also review any Explanation of Benefits statements from your health insurer and check your medical records for services you did not receive. If you spot signs of fraud or identity theft, visit IdentityTheft.gov for step-by-step guidance on what to do next.
