What Happened?
Bitcoin Depot, Inc., a cryptocurrency ATM and digital asset service provider based in Atlanta, Georgia, reported a significant data breach that compromised the personal information of thousands of individuals. The breach occurred on June 23, 2024, and was discovered nearly a month later on July 18, 2024. However, affected individuals were not notified until July 8, 2025, which raises concerns about the delay in disclosure and the potential risk to consumers.
The breach was classified as an external system breach caused by a hacking incident. The company has not disclosed which specific systems were accessed.

The information compromised in the breach included:

A total of 26,732 individuals were affected.
Bitcoin Depot did not offer any identity theft protection or credit monitoring services to those impacted.
How Did Bitcoin Depot Respond?
Following discovery of the breach, Bitcoin Depot launched an internal investigation to assess the scope of the incident. After determining the nature of the data compromise, the company sent written notifications to affected individuals on July 8, 2025.
The company also reported the incident to the Maine Attorney General. The official consumer notice, titled “AG_Letter_Insert_-Consumer_Letters-_Rest_of_US(712666173.1).pdf”, was submitted as part of the regulatory filing.
No additional public disclosure or protective services were announced by the company.
