About Centers Lab NJ LLC
Centers Lab NJ LLC, doing business as Centers Laboratory and also as MedLabs Diagnostics, is a clinical medical laboratory based in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey. It provides diagnostic testing and laboratory services — including hematology, clinical chemistry, toxicology, bacteriology, immunology, and virology — to healthcare providers, skilled nursing facilities, and primary care physicians across New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. What Happened?
Centers Lab NJ LLC was listed in an HHS Office for Civil Rights breach portal report submitted on June 18th, 2026, identifying a hacking and IT incident affecting 542,377 individuals. The breached information was stored on a network server.
According to supplemental reporting and the company’s own notice, an unauthorized actor gained access to Centers Laboratory’s systems and copied data between August 9th, 2025 and August 14th, 2025. Centers Laboratory discovered the suspicious activity on August 25th, 2025. On October 6th, 2025, the ransomware and extortion group known as Worldleaks claimed responsibility for the attack, posting a leak claim on the Tor dark web network. Centers Laboratory publicly disclosed the breach and notified consumers on June 18th, 2026 — approximately ten months after discovery. The data involved includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, passport numbers, health insurance information, medical records, patient test records, laboratory reports, employee and staff information, diagnostic data, and internal operational files. No class action lawsuits specifically connected to this breach have been identified as of July 2026.
