About Ed Bell Investments, Inc.

Ed Bell Investments, Inc. is a privately held heavy and civil engineering construction company based in Dallas, Texas, that provides concrete paving, bridge structures, and highway and municipal reconstruction services. Incorporated in Texas in 1973, it is the parent company of Ed Bell Construction Company, Equipment Storage Service, Inc., and Construction Equipment Parts, Inc., and employs approximately 250–284 people. The breach exposed a broad range of sensitive personal, financial, and medical information belonging to thousands of individuals, making the potential for identity theft and fraud a serious concern for those affected.

What Happened?

Ed Bell Investments, Inc. was listed in a Texas Attorney General data security breach report (record ID BR-0005108), published on June 18th, 2026. According to the company’s breach notification letter filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General, on April 5th, 2026, a threat actor gained unauthorized access to systems within Ed Bell’s network by exploiting a vulnerability in a network security device. The intrusion was initially discovered on April 7th, 2026. The Texas Attorney General report lists a discovery date of May 11th, 2026, which may reflect a later determination of the full scope of the incident rather than the date of initial detection. The company sent consumer notification letters via U.S. Mail, dated June 10th, 2026—approximately two months after the initial discovery.

The compromised information includes names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, government-issued ID numbers (such as passports and state ID cards), financial account and card numbers, medical information, and health insurance information. A total of 5,518 individuals were affected. No ransomware group has publicly claimed responsibility for the attack. No class action lawsuit has been filed as of June 18th, 2026, but at least two law firms—Shamis & Gentile P.A. and Strauss Borrelli PLLC—have announced investigations into the breach for potential class action claims.

What Should You Do?

If you received a notice from Ed Bell Investments, Inc., enroll in the 24 months of complimentary Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring and identity restoration services the company is offering, and do so before any enrollment deadline stated in your notice. Because the breach involved Social Security numbers, financial account information, medical information, and health insurance information, you should also consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze with the three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Monitor your bank and credit card accounts closely for unauthorized transactions, and request your free credit reports at AnnualCreditReport.com to check for any accounts you did not open. If you suspect your identity has been misused, report it at IdentityTheft.gov. Because medical and health insurance information was exposed, review your Explanation of Benefits statements and medical records for any services you did not receive, and report discrepancies to your insurer or healthcare provider.
