About FCCI Insurance Group

FCCI Insurance Group is a commercial property and casualty insurance provider founded in 1959 and headquartered in Sarasota, Florida. It operates as a subsidiary of FCCI Mutual Insurance Holding Company and offers coverage lines including workers’ compensation, general liability, property, crime, auto, inland marine, agribusiness, umbrella, and surety bonds. The company writes business exclusively through independent agents in 20 states plus Washington, D.C., and insures over 12,000 policyholders across industries such as construction, manufacturing, hospitality, retail, and agriculture.

What Happened?

FCCI Insurance Group was listed in a Texas Attorney General data security breach report published on September 3rd, 2026. According to the filing, unauthorized activity occurred between April 30th, 2026 and May 13th, 2026, and was discovered on August 27th, 2026. A total of 1,370 individuals were affected. As of the filing date, notice had not yet been provided to consumers. The breach exposed a broad range of sensitive information, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, other government-issued ID numbers, financial account information, medical information, health insurance information, and dates of birth.

The ransomware group known as “Redact” claimed FCCI Insurance Group as a victim on June 28th, 2026, according to dark web monitoring sources and reporting by DeXpose. This is an attacker-side allegation only — FCCI has not publicly confirmed a ransomware attack, and the Texas Attorney General filing does not identify the attack vector. Notably, the Redact claim appeared after the reported breach window closed (May 13th, 2026) but before FCCI reported discovering the breach (August 27th, 2026). This is also FCCI’s second known breach in roughly two years: a prior incident involving unauthorized access to employee email accounts occurred between December 2023 and February 2024 and was reported to the Montana Attorney General.

Key Facts at a Glance

What Should You Do?

If you received notice that your information was involved in this breach, you should take action promptly given the breadth of data exposed. Enroll in any identity theft protection services FCCI offers, and pay close attention to any enrollment deadlines included in the notice. Place a fraud alert or credit freeze with the three major credit bureaus — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion — to help prevent new accounts from being opened in your name. Monitor your existing financial accounts closely for unauthorized transactions and request free copies of your credit reports at AnnualCreditReport.com. Because medical and health insurance information was reportedly involved, review your Explanation of Benefits statements and request copies of your medical records to check for unfamiliar charges or treatments. If you spot signs of identity theft, report them at IdentityTheft.gov, which provides step-by-step recovery guidance.
