About Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines is an American ultra-low-cost carrier founded in 1994 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado. It operates flights to over 120 destinations across the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America. The company is publicly traded on NASDAQ under the ticker ULCC as Frontier Group Holdings, Inc. The breach exposed sensitive personal identifying information, making it particularly significant for anyone whose records were held in the affected data storage account.

What Happened?

Frontier Airlines was listed in a Texas Attorney General data security breach report (record ID BR-0005172) published on July 14th, 2026. According to that filing and supplemental reporting, an unauthorized third party gained access to a Frontier Airlines data storage account between May 12th, 2026 and June 3rd, 2026. The breach was discovered on June 18th, 2026. A total of 11,482 individuals were affected. The compromised information includes names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, government-issued ID numbers such as passports and state ID cards, dates of birth, and other unspecified information. Frontier notified affected consumers by U.S. Mail. Frontier stated it initiated incident response protocols, notified law enforcement, engaged a third-party cybersecurity firm, and believes the incident has been contained with no evidence of continued unauthorized access.

One aviation news outlet, AeroXplorer, has reported that the breach has been linked to a ransomware group known as “Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters,” though Frontier itself has not publicly confirmed that attribution. As of July 14th, 2026, no formal class action lawsuit has been filed, but at least four law firms have announced investigations into potential claims on behalf of affected individuals: Edelson Lechtzin LLP, Federman & Sherwood, Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP, and Shamis & Gentile P.A.

What Should You Do?

If you received a notice from Frontier Airlines about this breach, consider enrolling in any identity theft protection services the company offers and note any enrollment deadline included in your notice. Because Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and government-issued ID numbers were among the exposed data types, you should place a fraud alert or credit freeze with the three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion—and closely monitor your credit reports for unfamiliar accounts or inquiries. You are entitled to a free credit report from each bureau at AnnualCreditReport.com. Watch your financial accounts for suspicious activity, and if you believe your identity has already been misused, visit IdentityTheft.gov for step-by-step recovery guidance.
