About HumanEdge, Inc.

HumanEdge, Inc. is a full-service staffing and recruiting firm founded in 1988 and headquartered in White Plains, New York, with an additional office in Bethel, Connecticut. The company provides contract staffing, direct search, and freelance recruitment services across administration, finance, accounting, scientific, engineering, manufacturing, and IT industries. It also operates under the name Premier Group. Because staffing firms routinely collect Social Security Numbers from job candidates and placed workers for employment verification and payroll purposes, a breach involving that data carries significant identity theft risk for current and former applicants and employees.

What Happened?

HumanEdge, Inc. was listed in a Vermont Attorney General breach report published on September 2nd, 2026. The filing identifies the incident as involving Social Security Numbers and categorizes HumanEdge as an “Other Commercial” organization. No breach date, discovery date separate from the filing date, affected-person count, or notification date was specified in the report.

Separately, dark web monitoring sources and threat intelligence reporting indicate that the Qilin ransomware group publicly claimed responsibility for a cyberattack against HumanEdge on its dark web leak site, with that post first observed on May 28th, 2026—approximately three months before the Vermont AG filing. According to threat intelligence aggregator DeXpose, Qilin indicated that sensitive data might be exposed unless negotiations were initiated. Qilin is a prolific ransomware-as-a-service operation, assessed as Russian-speaking, that practices double extortion by both stealing data and encrypting systems. These are attacker-side claims only. HumanEdge has not publicly confirmed that ransomware was the cause of the breach, and no regulator has officially linked the Qilin claim to the Vermont AG filing. No litigation related to this incident has been identified.

Key Facts at a Glance

What Should You Do?

If you received a notice from HumanEdge, Inc., you should act promptly to protect yourself. Because Social Security Numbers were exposed, you are at elevated risk for identity theft and fraudulent account opening. Consider placing a free credit freeze with all three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion—which prevents new credit from being opened in your name without your knowledge. You can also place a free fraud alert, which prompts lenders to take extra steps to verify your identity before extending credit. Review your credit reports at AnnualCreditReport.com, where you are entitled to free reports from each bureau. If you notice unfamiliar accounts or inquiries, report them to the Federal Trade Commission at IdentityTheft.gov, which will generate a personalized recovery plan. Continue monitoring your financial accounts and credit reports closely for suspicious activity going forward.
