About Master Manufacturing Co., Inc.

Master Manufacturing Co., Inc. is a privately held custom metal stamping and production company founded in 1970 and located in Evansville, Indiana. The company serves industries including appliance, HVAC, lighting, automotive, and RV, and offers services such as laser cutting, wire bending, heat treatment, zinc electroplating, and austemper heat treating. It holds IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 certifications. Because the company works with clients across multiple industries, its systems may contain employee and client records alongside proprietary engineering and technical data.

What Happened?

On September 7th, 2026, the Dark Project ransomware group listed Master Manufacturing Co., Inc. on its dark web leak site, as indexed by Ransomware.live and independently reported by RedPacket Security. The attacker’s posting claims that approximately 36 gigabytes of data were exfiltrated from the company’s servers. The claim alleges the stolen data includes SQL databases described as containing personal data, as well as technical plans and schematics for custom metal parts. RedPacket Security characterized the posting as a data-exfiltration event rather than an encryption-only attack. These are attacker-side allegations only — no public statement, regulatory filing, or confirmation from Master Manufacturing Co., Inc. has been found.

Dark Project is an emerging, financially motivated ransomware and data extortion operation first publicly observed in August 2026. Ransomware.live explicitly flags Dark Project as an emerging group whose claims should be treated with caution until independently verified. Security analysts have described the group’s targeting as consistent with opportunistic, affiliate-driven attacks against organizations with weak perimeter security. No litigation or class action investigation connected specifically to this incident has been identified, though attorney investigations into other Dark Project claims have been reported.
