It provides information and support services to family caregivers of adults with chronic and disabling conditions across a seven-county Redwood Empire region. Because the center serves caregivers who may share personal details about themselves and the individuals they care for, its records can include sensitive identifying information.
What Happened?
North Coast Opportunities, Inc. / Redwood Caregiver Resource Center was listed in a California Attorney General sample breach notice filed on July 15th, 2026. According to the consumer notification letter, on June 30th, 2026, an email sent to caregivers contained incorrect information, including personal details — such as names, email addresses, and other identifying information — belonging to other individuals. This was an accidental disclosure, not a cyberattack or unauthorized system intrusion. The notification letter, signed by Redwood CRC Program Director Alexis Glidewell, LCSW, asks recipients to delete the misdirected email immediately, including from trash and deleted folders, and to destroy any copies already saved or printed.
No identity theft protection or credit monitoring services were offered in the notification, which is consistent with the relatively limited nature of an accidental email disclosure. No prior breaches were found for this organization, and no public litigation or class action has been filed in connection with this incident. Note that a similarly named but entirely separate organization — Redwood Coast Regional Center — experienced an unrelated cyberattack in March 2024; that incident has no connection to this one.
