Date of data breach:

by: Almeida Law Group

Attorneys at Almeida Law Group are investigating whether a class action lawsuit can be filed on behalf of individuals affected by a possible SCHMIDT data breach. According to dark web monitoring sources, a hacker group calling itself bravox claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on SCHMIDT in a post first observed in September 2026, alleging it had gained access to internal company systems. As of this writing, SCHMIDT has not issued a public confirmation of the incident, and the exact scope of any exposed data remains unknown. If you believe you were affected, contact Almeida Law Group.

About SCHMIDT

Schmidt Manufacturing, operating at schmidtmfg.com, is a full-line manufacturer and distributor of industrial abrasive blasting equipment, abrasives, and engineering solutions for surface preparation and corrosion control. The brand has been in operation for over 50 years. U.S. operations are run by Axxiom Manufacturing, Inc., headquartered in Fresno, Texas, with international offices in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

What Happened?

On September 1st, 2026, SCHMIDT was listed as an alleged victim on the BravoX ransomware group’s dark web data leak site, as reported by Ransomware.live. This is an unverified, attacker-side allegation only. The leak-site post was notably sparse — it contained no ransom demand, no claimed data volume, no data categories, no screenshots, and no downloadable files. Schmidt has not publicly confirmed any ransomware attack or data breach. RedPacket Security has specifically noted that listings attributed to BravoX have been reported as including unverified or fabricated victim claims. No independent corroborating source was found.

BravoX is an emerging Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) group that surfaced publicly on January 23rd, 2026, after posting on the RAMP underground forum. The group employs a double-extortion model, threatening to publish stolen data if ransom demands go unmet, and typically gains initial access through compromised SSL VPNs with weak passwords and no multi-factor authentication. As of February 2026, no BravoX encryptor binary, file hash, or malware artifact had been recovered or analyzed by any threat intelligence vendor. The group avoids targets in CIS countries, a pattern consistent with Russian-speaking cybercriminal operations.

Key Facts at a Glance

What Should You Do?

Even when the details of an alleged incident are unconfirmed, it is a good time to take protective steps. Consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze with the three major credit bureaus — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion — to make it harder for unauthorized parties to open accounts in your name. You can request your free annual credit report at AnnualCreditReport.com to check for unfamiliar activity. Monitor your financial and online accounts closely for suspicious transactions or login attempts. If you become a victim of identity theft, the Federal Trade Commission’s IdentityTheft.gov provides step-by-step recovery guidance.
