About Viking Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a City Ambulance Service

City Ambulance Service, legally Viking Enterprises, Inc., is a private ambulance and emergency medical services company headquartered in Spring, Texas, in the Houston metro area, with approximately 220 employees. It holds a Transportation Services / Ambulance license in Texas and has operated medical transfer service franchises, including in Austin, TX. Because the company provides emergency and non-emergency medical transport, it collects and maintains sensitive personal and medical information as part of normal operations.

What Happened?

Viking Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a City Ambulance Service was listed in a Texas Attorney General data security breach report (BR-0005296), published September 1st, 2026. According to that filing, a breach occurred between July 3rd, 2026 and July 5th, 2026 and was discovered on July 19th, 2026, affecting 14,324 individuals. The information involved includes names, addresses, Social Security numbers, medical information, health insurance information, and dates of birth. As of the September 1st, 2026 filing date — nearly two months after discovery — notice had not yet been provided to affected consumers.

Separately, dark web monitoring platforms including Ransomware.live and SOCRadar reported on July 19th, 2026 that the Qilin ransomware group claimed to have listed City Ambulance Service on its leak site, alleging it exfiltrated internal data and threatening to publish it if negotiations were not initiated. This is an attacker-side allegation only; City Ambulance Service has not publicly confirmed or denied a ransomware attack. The breach discovery date reported to the Texas AG (July 19th, 2026) aligns with the date the Qilin listing was first observed, though the AG-reported breach dates (July 3rd–5th, 2026) precede that claim. The exact scope of any data the group may have obtained remains unconfirmed. Multiple law firms have announced investigations into potential class action lawsuits on behalf of affected individuals, though no filed complaint has been confirmed as of this writing. No prior data breaches involving this organization were identified.
