January 26, 2026 – San Francisco, CA — Today, Almeida Law Group, LLC and Tycko & Zavareei LLP filed an important class‑action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California alleging that San Francisco Baseball Associates LLC, the operator of the San Francisco Giants, systematically deceived fans by charging hidden and unlawful “junk fees” on online ticket purchases.
The complaint, brought on behalf of Juan Flores and a proposed nationwide class of consumers, alleges that for years the Giants advertised artificially low ticket prices on their website and then added mandatory “Service,” “Convenience,” “Handling,” and “Order Processing” fees only at the final checkout stage—often increasing the total cost by more than 45%.
According to the lawsuit, these hidden fees violated multiple California consumer‑protection statutes, including the Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA), the Unfair Competition Law (UCL), and the False Advertising Law (FAL).
“The price a fan sees should be the price they pay,” said Wesley M. Griffith, California Managing Partner at Almeida Law Group and co-lead counsel for the proposed class. “The Giants lured consumers with deceptively low ticket prices and then ambushed them with mandatory fees at the last possible moment. That practice is not only unfair—it’s illegal in California, and this lawsuit seeks to make sure the team returns the millions of dollars it improperly collected.”
“The Giants lured fans in with one price and then threw a financial changeup at checkout,” continued co-lead counsel Peter Silva of Tycko & Zavareei. “Consumers deserve straight up pricing, not deceptive pitches at the last moment.”
The complaint details how the Giants’ website displayed “Starting at” prices and seat‑specific prices that excluded mandatory fees, preventing consumers from meaningfully comparing ticket options or understanding the true cost until they reached the bottom of a timed checkout page. The lawsuit alleges that this design intentionally exploited consumer psychology and pressured fans into completing purchases they would not have made had the full price been disclosed upfront.
Plaintiff Juan Flores, who purchased two tickets for an April 2024 Giants game, was charged $9 in undisclosed fees on a $20 purchase—a 45% increase. The complaint alleges that hundreds of thousands of consumers experienced similar hidden charges.
The lawsuit seeks restitution, injunctive relief, and damages on behalf of all affected consumers.

Wesley M. Griffith was quoted by the San Francisco Chronicle, stating:
“The Giants’ deceptive Junk Fee practices resulted in additional actual injury and harm (to Flores and others) by forcing them to waste time and effort searching for full pricing information to determine and compare the true price of tickets or by forcing them to make uninformed decisions about which tickets would be most favorable to purchase.”
