About Silver Summit Medical Corporation
Silver Summit Medical Corporation is a medical group based in Bakersfield, California, incorporated in 1991. It operates under two doing-business-as names: Digestive Disease Center, located at 1408 Commercial Way, which focuses on gastroenterology, colonoscopy, and endoscopy; and Heart Vascular & Leg Center, located at 5020 Commerce Drive, which provides comprehensive cardiovascular and wound care services. The corporation also operates a Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery center. Because the organization handles personal and protected health information as part of patient care, the exposure of such data carries particular risks for affected individuals.
What Happened?
Silver Summit Medical Corporation was listed in a California Attorney General sample breach notice filed on August 19th, 2026. According to the notice, on or about July 20th, 2026, SSMC learned that a cybersecurity event at an unnamed third-party vendor had affected personal or protected health information that SSMC had shared with that vendor. The unauthorized acquisition of data from the vendor’s systems occurred between November 27th, 2025 and November 30th, 2025. This was not a direct attack on SSMC’s own systems. The notice confirms that affected individuals’ names were involved; additional data types appear to have been listed on a per-individual basis in personalized letters but are not visible in the published sample notice. SSMC is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.
There is an approximately eight-month gap between the breach window in November 2025 and the consumer notification in August 2026. SSMC states it did not learn of the vendor incident until approximately July 20th, 2026, and sent notices roughly one month after that discovery. No ransomware group has been publicly linked to this incident, and no class action litigation has been reported as of August 19th, 2026.
