Attorneys at Almeida Law Group are investigating whether a class action lawsuit can be filed on behalf of individuals affected by a possible Mission Pet Health data breach. According to dark web monitoring sources, a hacker group calling itself direwolf claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on Mission Pet Health in a post first observed in September 2026, alleging it had gained access to internal company systems. As of this writing, Mission Pet Health has not issued a public confirmation of the incident, and the exact scope of any exposed data remains unknown. If you believe you were affected, contact Almeida Law Group.

About Mission Pet Health

Mission Pet Health is one of the largest veterinary care organizations in the United States, formed by the merger of Southern Veterinary Partners and Mission Veterinary Partners in late 2024 and rebranded under its current name in July 2025. Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, the company operates more than 850 animal hospitals, specialty practices, urgent care clinics, and pet resorts across 41 states, with a team of more than 20,000 employees. The company is backed by Shore Capital Partners and was founded by veterinarians.

What Happened?

On September 5th, 2026, the Direwolf ransomware group listed Mission Pet Health on its dark web leak site, as reported by Ransomware.live and independently noted by RedPacket Security. This is an attacker-side allegation only. Mission Pet Health has not publicly confirmed the incident, no regulatory filing or consumer notification has been identified, and no prior breach history was found for Mission Pet Health or its predecessor entities.

The leak-site post provides no details about the alleged intrusion method, which systems may have been affected, or whether encryption, data theft, or both occurred. No claimed ransom amount or exfiltrated data volume was stated. RedPacket Security specifically noted that the listing “functions primarily as an allegation of compromise rather than a detailed account of the attack.” Direwolf is a ransomware operation that first surfaced in May 2025 and had publicly claimed more than 118 victims as of late August 2026. The group employs double-extortion tactics and has targeted healthcare entities at a notable rate, with healthcare representing approximately 15% of its claimed victims. No independent corroborating source confirming Mission Pet Health’s compromise has been found.
