About AssuranceAmerica Managing General Agency, LLC
AssuranceAmerica Managing General Agency, LLC is a subsidiary of AssuranceAmerica Group, a privately-held insurance holding company founded in 1998 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The company underwrites and distributes non-standard personal automobile insurance products, primarily serving high-risk drivers, through a network of more than 9,500 independent agents across 14 states.
What Happened?
AssuranceAmerica Managing General Agency, LLC was listed in a California Attorney General sample breach notice filed on June 17th, 2026. According to the breach notice, on March 16th, 2026, a malicious attack targeted one of the company’s employees. The following day, March 17th, 2026, the company detected suspicious activity on part of its IT systems. An unauthorized third party accessed those systems and copied a number of data files. The personal information involved includes name, contact information, automobile insurance policy or insurance account information, driver or vehicle information, claims-related information, driver’s license number, Tax ID information, and/or Social Security number.
In response, AssuranceAmerica disabled and took offline the affected server devices, reset passwords, deployed enhanced monitoring and threat detection software, provided additional cybersecurity instruction to personnel, and notified law enforcement. The company is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring through IDX. The roughly three-month gap between detection on March 17th, 2026 and consumer notification in June 2026 was attributed to the scope of the file review process required to identify affected individuals. No ransomware group has publicly claimed responsibility for the incident, and no class action litigation connected to this breach has been identified as of June 18th, 2026.
