About Cardinal Services LLC
Cardinal Services LLC is an oilfield services company based in New Iberia, Louisiana, founded in 2012 through the acquisition of Vesco Rental & Supply, LLC. The company specializes in land and offshore services including coiled tubing, slickline, flowback, and pressure control for oil and gas operations. It is privately held with an estimated 51 to 200 employees and operates under several DBA names including Cardinal Coil Tubing, Cardinal Slickline, and Vesco Rental Pressure Control.
What Happened?
Cardinal Services LLC was listed in a Texas Attorney General data security breach report (record BR-0005322). The filing states that the breach was discovered on July 28th, 2026, and that 2,241 individuals were affected in total. Notifications were sent to consumers by U.S. Mail. The data involved included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, medical information, and health insurance information.
Separately, dark web monitoring sources and the Srourian Law Firm have reported that the Akira ransomware group claimed responsibility for an attack on Cardinal Services LLC, with that claim first observed on November 19th, 2025 — approximately eight months before the discovery date reported in the Texas AG filing. That gap between the Akira group’s claim and the reported discovery date may warrant further scrutiny. At least one law firm has publicly stated it is investigating potential class action claims tied to this incident, though no filed lawsuit has been identified as of the date of this post. Note that Cardinal Services LLC of New Iberia, Louisiana is an entirely separate company from Cardinal Services, Inc., an HR and staffing firm based in Coos Bay, Oregon, which disclosed a different and unrelated breach in May 2026.
