About Casper Orthopedic Associates, PC

Casper Orthopaedic Associates, PC is a full-service bone and joint clinic founded in 1976 in Casper, Wyoming. The practice offers orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, hand surgery, physical therapy, occupational therapy, spine care, joint replacement, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. It employs between 51 and 200 staff across approximately 15 physicians and serves patients in Casper and Douglas, Wyoming. Because the practice provides orthopedic medical care, it collects and maintains health and personal information about patients as part of routine clinical operations.

What Happened?

Casper Orthopedic Associates, PC was listed in an HHS Office for Civil Rights breach portal report submitted on July 23rd, 2026. The filing identifies the incident as a hacking/IT incident involving a network server and reports that 56,197 individuals were affected. No business associate was involved. The specific types of data exposed were not identified in the HHS filing or any other confirmed source.

Separately, on July 12th, 2026, the ransomware group Anubis claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on Casper Orthopedics on its dark web leak site, as tracked by Ransomware.live and reported by DeXpose. The Anubis group alleged that patients’ data and medical records were exposed, but this is an attacker-side claim and has not been independently confirmed. As of July 14th, 2026, Casper Orthopedics had not publicly confirmed whether a breach had occurred or whether any patient information was actually compromised. The HHS filing and the Anubis claim have not been officially linked, though the timing and entity name are consistent. Attorneys working with ClassAction.org announced on July 14th, 2026 that they are investigating whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in connection with the reported incident.
