Attorneys at Almeida Law Group are investigating whether a class action lawsuit can be filed on behalf of individuals affected by a possible eAssist Dental Solutions data breach. According to dark web monitoring sources, a hacker group calling itself direwolf claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on eAssist Dental Solutions in a post first observed in September 2026, alleging it had gained access to internal company systems. As of this writing, eAssist Dental Solutions has not issued a public confirmation of the incident, and the exact scope of any exposed data remains unknown. If you believe you were affected, contact Almeida Law Group.

About eAssist Dental Solutions

eAssist Dental Solutions is a business process outsourcing company headquartered in Farmington, Utah that provides outsourced dental billing, insurance claims processing, patient billing, insurance verification, credentialing, and revenue cycle management services for dental practices across the United States. The company was founded in 2011 by Dr. James V. Anderson and was acquired by Henry Schein in June 2021, which took a 70% ownership stake. eAssist operates a cloud-based platform that integrates with dental practice management software and employs approximately 1,750 US-based dental billers serving thousands of dental practices nationwide.

What Happened?

On September 6th, 2026, eAssist Dental Solutions was listed as an alleged victim on the DireWolf ransomware group’s dark web leak site, as reported by Ransomware.live. This is an attacker-side claim only. No confirmation, denial, or public statement from eAssist Dental Solutions or its parent company Henry Schein has been found. Multiple threat intelligence aggregators — including Ransomware.live, RedPacket Security, and BrinzTech — have indexed the posting, but none have independently verified the claim. As RedPacket Security noted, the listing does not provide substantive details about the alleged intrusion, the systems affected, or the information involved, and contains no stated ransom demand, data volume, or description of compromised records. No independent corroborating source has been found.

DireWolf is a ransomware group that first surfaced in May 2025 and employs double-extortion tactics — combining file encryption with threats to publicly release exfiltrated data. As of August 31st, 2026, DireWolf had publicly claimed more than 118 victims, with healthcare organizations accounting for approximately 15% of its targets. The group has recently claimed other healthcare victims, including hospitals and the National Kidney Registry. eAssist, as a dental billing and revenue cycle management company, handles sensitive data for dental practices as part of its core business, but no source has confirmed that any specific data types were involved in this alleged incident.
