What Happened?
Eisen, Inc. was listed in a California Attorney General sample breach notice filed on June 24th, 2026. According to the notice, on December 12th, 2025, a threat actor impersonated the California State Controller’s Office and used that impersonation to trick an Eisen employee into sharing a file containing unclaimed property compliance records. The compromised file included names, mailing addresses, email addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and unclaimed property balance information. Upon recognizing the activity as fraudulent, Eisen revoked the unauthorized party’s access, deleted the file from the sharing platform, and conducted an investigation that confirmed no further data exposure. Eisen is offering 24 months of complimentary Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring and identity theft restoration services to affected individuals.
Approximately six months passed between the breach date of December 12th, 2025 and the notification date of June 24th, 2026, which may raise questions under California’s data breach notification timing requirements. No ransomware group attribution, prior breaches, or related litigation were identified in research conducted as of June 25th, 2026.
