About Healthcare Highways, LLC
Healthcare Highways, LLC is a healthcare company founded in 2010 and headquartered in Frisco, Texas. The company develops and distributes health plans, high-performance provider networks, pharmacy benefit management, population health management, and benefit plan administration services for health systems and self-funded employers. It operates across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Ohio, partnering with more than 12,000 primary care physicians, 69,000 specialists, and 3,000 medical facilities. Because of its role in health plan administration, the company handles highly sensitive personal, financial, and medical information on behalf of plan members.
What Happened?
Healthcare Highways, LLC was listed in a Texas Attorney General data security breach report (record BR-0005395). According to that filing, the breach occurred between July 22nd, 2026 and July 27th, 2026 and was discovered on September 17th, 2026. The compromised data includes names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, medical information, health insurance information, and other unspecified data. Healthcare Highways provided notice to consumers by posting information at its company website. The total number of persons affected was listed as zero in the filing, which researchers note likely reflects a placeholder while the company’s data review remains ongoing.
Separately, on August 4th and 5th, 2026, the ransomware-as-a-service group known as “Chaos” — active since March 2025 — claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on Healthcare Highways via its dark web leak site. The group alleged it exfiltrated 235 GB of data, including protected health information and internal documents, and reportedly published the data after a 24-hour countdown expired, suggesting no ransom was paid. These claims were tracked by DataBreaches.net and HIPAA Pulse. However, the Chaos group’s statements are attacker-side allegations from a dark web leak site and have not been independently confirmed by Healthcare Highways. Notably, the Chaos group’s claimed attack date of August 4th–5th, 2026 does not align with the July 22nd–27th, 2026 breach window reported in the Texas AG filing, and the relationship between the two events remains unclear. As of available reporting in August 2026, multiple law firms had opened investigations into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed, but no lawsuit had been filed.
