What Happened?
Jeffrey David Reuben MD was listed in a Texas Attorney General data security breach report (record BR-0005211), published on July 28th, 2026. The breach occurred over a two-day window, April 18th through April 19th, 2026, and was not discovered until July 15th, 2026—a gap of approximately 87 days. A total of 17,017 individuals were affected. The compromised information included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, other government-issued ID numbers such as passports and state ID cards, financial account and payment card information, medical information, and health insurance information. The practice notified consumers by U.S. mail, by posting notice on its website, and through Texas-wide media broadcast.
Prior to the official disclosure, BreachNews reported on June 21st, 2026 that a threat actor operating under the name “iProfessor” posted a listing on a cybercrime forum claiming to possess 29,831 patient records in a 176 GB dataset allegedly stolen from the practice in April 2026, offered for sale at $5,000. The threat actor’s listing also alleged that some records may belong to patients of NW Surgery. These are unverified claims made by the attacker and have not been confirmed by the practice, a regulator, or any independent source. The official Texas Attorney General filing reports 17,017 affected individuals, not the figure claimed by the threat actor. At least two law firms—Migliaccio & Rathod LLP and ClaimDepot—have announced investigations into potential class action litigation related to this breach, though no filed lawsuit has been confirmed as of the research date.
