Attorneys at Almeida Law Group are investigating whether a class action lawsuit can be filed on behalf of individuals affected by a possible WireCo data breach. According to dark web monitoring sources, a hacker group calling itself qilin claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on WireCo in a post first observed in August 2026, alleging it had gained access to internal company systems. As of this writing, WireCo has not issued a public confirmation of the incident, and the exact scope of any exposed data remains unknown. If you believe you were affected, contact Almeida Law Group.

What Happened?
On August 26th, 2026, Ransomware.live reported that the Qilin ransomware group listed WireCo on its dark web leak site. This is an attacker-side allegation only. No confirmation from WireCo, any regulatory body, or independent news media has been found. The Ransomware.live listing includes no description of claimed data types or data volume. A separate breach-tracking site, RecentBreaches.com, also noted that WireCo was named on a ransomware group’s data-leak site on August 26th, 2026, but provided limited additional detail. No independent corroborating source has confirmed the incident.
Qilin, also known as Agenda, is a ransomware-as-a-service operation attributed to Russian-speaking operators that runs a double-extortion model — encrypting victims’ data while also threatening to publish it publicly. Qilin was reported to be the most active ransomware group tracked in the first half of 2026, with approximately 370 attacks in North America alone according to Cyble Research, and executed approximately 299 attacks in Q1 2026.
